Auto embed: Library Resources page on your course menu

When you use this method, Canvas adds a page called ISU Library Resources on your course-level navigation bar. This page has already been created and populated with content relevant to your course.

The page contains links to a research guide specific to your subject, a course guide if there is one created for your course, a list

of subject-specific Article Indexes and Databases, a subject librarian's profile, and an appointment scheduling tool for individual research consultations with a librarian.

Steps

To add this page to your course menu click Settings and select the Navigation tab.
From the list find ISU Library Resources and click to Enable it.
Click Save and you are done!

Note: you do not have editing privileges if you use this method. If you want to list any other guides on this page, contact your liaison librarian.

Manually add a guide or specific content from a guide to your course

This method allows you to manually add a guide or specific content from a guide to your Canvas page, module, or assignment. To use this method, you need to know in advance which guide or page from a guide you want to embed. Visit this page to view our published list of research, course, and information literacy guides: ISU Library Guides.

Steps

Let's say you want to add content from a plagiarism guide to your Canvas course page. On the page editor click More External Tools and select ISU Library Research and Course Guides.

On the next window select Library Guides - instr.iastate.libguides.com from the drop-down menu.
In the Content Type drop-down menu, you have options of Full LibGuide, Single Page, or Content Box.
Since we want to add specific content from a plagiarism guide, select Content Box.
On the next drop-down menu find the Understanding Plagiarism: Information Literacy Guide
Select Guide's page and Box names in the last two drop-down menus.

Click the Embed Content button and you are done!
