Hello! My name is Rahul Parsa, and I’m the director of the actuarial science program at Ivy College of Business, Iowa State University. I am working with Anna Peterson and Laura Ziegler, co-directors of the undergraduate statistics program, to create this opportunity.

We recently started a new undergraduate major in actuarial science. To raise awareness of this program and the career path, we are hosting an Actuarial CYence Career Day for high school students and teachers.  This event is co-sponsored by Gamma Iota Sigma and the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC) organization. 

During the event, your students will meet with practicing actuaries and learn about the actuarial profession. They will learn how actuaries approach data science, mathematical modeling, and risk analysis.  They get to meet with university faculty, current, and former students, and learn about the Actuarial Science Program! At the end of the program, you will also hear from Statistics faculty and undergraduate students to learn about the statistics program, which complements an actuarial degree.
